UWI, Gibraltar’s newest authorised insurer owned by Utility Warehouse, focuses on value insurance for UK owner-occupiers. We’ve been operating for about 18 months, at financial breakeven, with plans for growth.
Role Overview
We seek an experienced claims specialist to join our team, reporting directly to the UWI CEO. This role involves delivering an outstanding claims service, managing claim handling providers, and analyzing customer complaints to improve outcomes.
Key Skills and Experience
- Expertise in insurance claims, loss adjusting, or property claims development
- Strong understanding of the UK general insurance market
- Experience managing relationships with external claims handlers

Team and Collaboration
You will report to the CEO and work with colleagues across the UK and Gibraltar, managing external claims handlers.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with external claims handlers (~£15m/year)
- Handle claims referrals and technical decisions
- Review large loss approaches, conduct site visits
- Audit claims performance and compliance
- Analyze customer conduct and dashboards
- Manage FOS referrals and data submissions
- Support Claims and Underwriting committees with data
- Develop claims practices and compare competitors
- Provide insights on customer claims to senior management
Role requires regular travel to London and occasional trips to Gibraltar. We offer hybrid and flexible remote working options.
