Our client, a UK based multi-utility infrastructure provider, is looking for a Commercial Manager with utilities infrastructure experience to join their team. You’ll take ownership of all commercial aspects of the business, leading a high-performing team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators. You’ll drive performance, ensure projects are delivered to expectations, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities:
- Oversee cost and value reconciliation to ensure project profitability.
- Lead a team of 12, driving process improvements and a focus on margin and cash recovery.
- Identify and manage commercial risks across all projects.
- Work with design, finance, and operations to report on commercial performance.
- Act as a senior leader, building relationships and driving commercial strategy.
- Chair monthly meetings to review regional performance and address issues.
- Streamline asset adoption processes across multi-utility services.
- Support finance in managing WIP and client debt.
- Maintain strong commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Skills and experience required:
- Experience in the utilities sector, including gas, electricity, and water infrastructure
- Strong commercial management skills and familiarity with contract terms
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers and clients
- Solid financial acumen – budgeting, cost control, cash flow, and cost value reconciliation
- Experience managing projects from inception to completion
- Ability to lead, support, and motivate a commercial team
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective stakeholder relationships
- Confident in identifying and solving complex problems
- Proficient in Excel and document management systems
