About Utilita Energy

We’re more than just an energy provider, we’re a purpose led organisation driven by Fairness, Smart technology, and Sustainability at our core. Every action we take, from shaping policy to delivering daily service, supports our Customer First strategy: empowering the people we serve by making them feel heard, respected, and supported.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Director of Regulation to breathe life into our mission through dynamic, values aligned regulatory strategy.

In this strategic, cross-functional leadership role, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with our Head of External Affairs to position regulatory strategy with influence and foresight across the stakeholder landscape.
  • Drive internal engagement around regulatory matters, educating teams, elevating awareness, and embedding a culture of ownership and literacy.
  • Champion best practice across the business, turning regulation into something relevant, actionable, and commercially astute.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships across departments, simplifying complexity and building shared responsibility.
  • Define and navigate Utilita Energy’s regulatory direction, both tactically and strategically, while anticipating change over the next 3–5 years.
  • Lead a team, including the Heads of Regulation and Market Policy, and serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team, bringing clarity, insight, and a sharp lens on governance, risk, and policy evolution.

About you

You are a seasoned and credible regulatory leader, with depth in UK energy regulation and a passion for progress. You’re a natural educator who knows how to translate complex frameworks into meaningful action. You approach regulation with positivity and nuance, seeing its potential to unify teams, drive innovation, and reinforce trust.

  • Strong track record of policy influence and regulatory leadership at senior levels.
  • Excellent communicator who thrives on collaboration and internal alignment.
  • Familiar with navigating ambiguity, embedding best practice, and engaging stakeholders from technical experts to senior executives.
  • Believer in regulation as a strategic lever, not just a legal requirement.
