The Venue

Bold in scale and ambition, P&J Live is the largest events complex in the North of Scotland. Opened in 2019, this £333 million, sustainability-led venue delivers world-class live entertainment, conferences and exhibitions, all powered by local renewable energy making it Aberdeenshire’s hub for culture, innovation and global events.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Events team at P&J Live, Aberdeen. As one of our Event Managers, you will be responsible for planning and delivering events by liaising with tour reps and event organisers to ensure their event is delivered in a coordinated and safe manner. This is the perfect role for someone with experience of working on a mixed programme of events from a live entertainment venue, looking to grow their career with a global business and be part of a fantastic venue team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as Duty Manager for events – leading the live delivery, managing front of house, security, stewards, hosts, medical teams, tech, and ensuring a safe and successful event.
  • Leading on public safety during events – ensuring safety checks, logging occurrences, and upholding licensing conditions.
  • Liaising with all internal venue departments – making sure accurate information is shared for smooth event delivery.
  • Providing promoters and organisers with venue info and managing them through planning to delivery – ensuring strong client service and clear communication.
  • Ensuring contractors, staff, and supplies are booked on time, accurate, and aligned with requirements – keeping events adequately resourced.
  • Always ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations (and relevant training) – protecting staff, guests, and the business.
  • To be responsible for the administrative and practical preparation of events within the Venue.
  • To ensure event costs are accurately tracked, recharged and approved.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in an events-based environment, ideally within a similar multi-purpose space – foundational experience is essential.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to work flexibly under pressure – central to managing multiple events and last-minute changes.
  • Strong people management skills – vital for leading casual staff, contractors, and internal teams.
  • A high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues regarding venue management and event management – ensures compliance and safe delivery.
  • Experience of planning, designing and operating multiple event types (music, comedy, theatre, corporate, etc.) – breadth of operational know-how.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills – crucial for working with promoters, clients, and internal stakeholders.
