The Back of House Manager is responsible for leading all back-of-house food and beverage operations, ensuring the efficient, safe and compliant delivery of services across the venue. The role oversees kitchen support and pot wash teams, stock and inventory management, labour scheduling, equipment maintenance and operational standards. Working closely with Front of House, Kitchen and Senior Management teams, the role plays a critical part in delivering exceptional guest experiences through operational excellence, cost control and compliance.
The Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all back-of-house operations, ensuring efficient, organised and well-maintained storage, preparation, cleaning and support areas that enable successful event delivery.
- Manage and develop Back of House and Pot Wash teams, including rota planning, staffing levels, performance management and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Control stock, inventory and operational resources, including ordering and managing culinary disposables, chemicals, crockery and cutlery, ensuring availability and effective cost management.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, coordinating maintenance and repairs, ensuring assets are cleaned, safely operated and fit for purpose at all times.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and environmental standards, maintaining accurate records, conducting inspections and embedding best practice across all operations.
- Collaborate with Front of House, Culinary and Senior Management teams, implementing operational improvements, controlling labour and operating costs, and supporting the delivery of exceptional guest experiences.

Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality, catering, food service or a related operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety, food safety and operational compliance requirements.
- Experience managing teams, driving performance and supporting operational excellence.
- Strong inventory, stock control and resource management experience.
Skills & Capabilities
- Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
Desirable
- Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
- Experience using stock management, scheduling or workforce planning software.
- Experience working within multi-site, large-scale or high-volume hospitality and event operations.
