We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Telecom/Fibre Surveyor to support the rollout and delivery of fibre network infrastructure projects. This opportunity is ideal for someone hands-on, observant, and comfortable working both on-site and with technical mapping systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating proposed designs against real-world conditions and ensuring accurate survey data is captured.
As a Telecom/Fibre Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out site inspections across underground network routes, reviewing planned layouts, and identifying any practical challenges before project delivery. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret mapping data, and confidence working within public highway environments.
Key Duties- Perform on-site surveys relating to underground fibre infrastructure, including route tracing and intermediate joint locations.
- Access and examine underground chambers to review existing cable installations and pathways.
- Analyse technical drawings, fibre layouts, and mapped network designs to understand project requirements.
- Compare design intentions with actual site conditions, highlighting discrepancies or risks.
- Evaluate traffic management needs in line with industry safety guidance and streetworks legislation.
- Log findings accurately using handheld devices, tablets, or digital reporting platforms.
- Compile clear and structured reports supported by images and relevant documentation.
- Work closely with planners, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure survey outputs support project timelines.
- Follow strict health & safety procedures when operating in public areas and live environments.
- Ability to interpret fibre network drawings, route schematics, and mapping overlays.
- Experience working with utilities, telecoms networks, highways, or civil infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of streetworks processes and traffic management requirements.
- Familiarity with GIS tools or electronic mapping systems is beneficial.
- Strong observational and analytical capabilities.
