About the Role

We are seeking a fully qualified Highways Electrician to support major highways electrical projects. The successful candidate must be comfortable working away from home for extended periods during the initial programme, with work becoming more local thereafter. The Highways Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of highways electrical assets, ensuring all works meet industry and statutory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair highways electrical systems and associated infrastructure
  • Carry out testing, inspection and certification in line with statutory and industry requirements
  • Work to HERS and sector scheme standards
  • Complete works safely, efficiently and to specification
  • Liaise with supervisors, project managers and clients as required
  • Ensure accurate completion of job sheets, test results and compliance documentation
  • Travel to sites across the UK, including regular overnight stays during project phases

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Systems
  • HERS Highways Electrician ECS Card
  • Ability and willingness to work away for extended periods
  • Strong understanding of highways electrical assets and sector scheme requirements
  • Experience working on live highways or similar safety-critical environments
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • 714, 2391 or equivalent testing & inspection qualification
  • G39 (or willingness to obtain)

Working Hours & Pay Enhancements

  • Standard hours: 07:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday
  • Overtime rates: 1.5x for nights and Saturday daytime, 2x for Sundays
  • Staying-away uplift: £30 per day
  • Meal/expenses allowance: Up to £35 per day
