Senior Electrical Compliance & Contracts Manager
Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working)
£65k + Full Benifits Package
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist contractor delivering electrical compliance, inspection, testing, maintenance and remedial services across large residential property portfolios.
This is a senior leadership position with full responsibility for the operational, commercial, technical and compliance performance of a major electrical services contract. The successful candidate will oversee both planned and reactive workstreams, ensuring statutory compliance, excellent customer outcomes, financial performance, and achievement of contractual service levels.
The role will suit an experienced contracts manager with a strong understanding of electrical compliance within social housing, residential estates, local authority environments, or similarly regulated sectors.
The Role As Senior Electrical Compliance & Contracts Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of a diverse programme of electrical compliance and maintenance services including:
Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
Electrical remedial works
Rewiring projects
Emergency lighting inspection and maintenance
Portable appliance testing
Lightning protection systems
Solar PV inspection and maintenance
Height safety equipment inspections
Compliance-related corrective works arising from inspections and risk assessments
You will act as the primary operational contact for the client and be responsible for managing performance, profitability, compliance, workforce planning and customer satisfaction across the contract.
Key Responsibilities Operational Management Direct and oversee the day-to-day delivery of all inspection, testing, maintenance and compliance activities.
Develop and manage planned maintenance programmes, cyclical inspections and reactive works schedules.
Ensure all services are delivered in line with contractual requirements, industry standards and statutory legislation.
Manage programme delivery to achieve completion targets and minimise overdue compliance activity.
Coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.
Leadership & People Management Lead and develop supervisors, engineers, administrators, resident liaison staff and support teams.
Manage workforce allocation, productivity, performance and competency requirements.
Conduct regular reviews, coaching sessions and development planning for team members.
Promote a positive, accountable and high-performing culture throughout the contract.
Ensure qualifications, training records and compliance documentation remain current across the workforce.
Client Relationship Management Act as the principal day-to-day contact for the client.
Attend performance meetings and provide operational updates.
Resolve issues and escalations within agreed timescales.
Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and client representatives.
Produce detailed performance reports covering operational delivery, risk, compliance and financial performance.
Commercial Responsibility Maintain accountability for contract profitability and budget performance.
Monitor expenditure, forecasting and financial reporting.
Manage quotations, variations and additional works submissions.
Apply schedule-of-rates pricing mechanisms where required.
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost control.
Ensure financial targets and contract margins are achieved.
Compliance & Technical Governance Ensure all works comply with current electrical regulations and industry standards.
Oversee the production and issue of certification, inspection reports and compliance records.
Manage corrective actions arising from inspections and audits.
Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and submitted within contractual timescales.
Maintain robust quality assurance procedures across all service streams.
Health, Safety & Risk Management Lead health and safety performance across the contract.
Ensure risk assessments and method statements are prepared and reviewed.
Oversee contractor and supplier compliance requirements.
Support incident investigations and reporting processes.
Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and maintained across all sites.
Promote a proactive safety culture throughout operations.
Resident & Customer Experience Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained throughout the contract.
Manage access arrangements and appointment programmes for occupied properties.
Oversee communication campaigns where resident access is required.
Monitor complaints, service failures and customer feedback.
Implement improvement plans where performance falls below target.
Drive high levels of customer satisfaction and appointment success rates.
Supply Chain Management Manage specialist subcontractors and service partners.
Conduct supplier performance reviews and audits.
Monitor quality, compliance, productivity and service delivery standards.
Develop corrective action plans where required.
Support procurement and contractor onboarding activities.
Essential Experience Applicants should demonstrate:
Significant experience managing electrical compliance or building services contracts.
Proven responsibility for contracts valued in excess of £1m annually.
Experience operating within social housing, residential estates, local authority, healthcare, education or regulated property environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical inspection and testing programmes.
Experience managing remedial works, compliance programmes and planned maintenance activities.
Successful leadership of multidisciplinary operational teams.
Strong client relationship and stakeholder management experience.
Experience managing budgets, forecasting and profit and loss performance.
Track record of improving operational performance and achieving contractual KPIs.
Technical Knowledge A strong understanding of several of the following areas is required:
Electrical inspection and testing
Fixed wiring compliance
Emergency lighting systems
Lightning protection systems
Portable appliance testing
Solar photovoltaic systems
Height safety equipment
Building safety compliance
Planned maintenance programmes
Compliance certification processes
Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards is highly desirable, including:
BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
Electrical Safety Standards requirements
CDM Regulations
RIDDOR
LOLER
Building Safety legislation
Current health and safety regulations
Preferred Qualifications NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
Inspection & Testing qualifications
Current Wiring Regulations qualification
IOSH, SMSTS or NEBOSH certification
Relevant management or leadership qualification
