For the Highway Inspector role, we require an individual with previous surveying/inspection experience in the field, someone who has a great eye for detail, capable of writing detailed reports, and following H&S. Candidates with a background in Highways, Streetworks or Utilities sectors will be favoured highly!
What You’ll Do
- Inspect & assess: Conduct surveys and highway inspections of cycle routes, public paths to ensure they meet safety and legislative standards.
- Solve problems: Address and report on issues such as potholes, damaged kerbs and street furniture, fly-tipping, graffiti, and littering to create cleaner, safer streets.
- Enforce standards: Work with local authorities and legislation to maintain the borough's aesthetic and functional excellence.
- Drive change: Review safety protocols and data collection systems to innovate maintenance practices and streamline operations.
- Collaborate: Build networks with stakeholders and engage with the public to deliver excellent customer service.

Essential Requirements
- MUST hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- Previous experience in Highway/Utility/Street work industries carrying out inspections or surveys.
- Experienced in writing up reports on your findings to action changes.
- Knowledge and experience of following H&S guidelines.
Desirable Requirements
- Current holder of NRSWA (New Roads Street Works Act) OR SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register) cards.
- Experience working as a Streetworks, Utilities, Highways Inspector/Surveyor.
- An understanding of urban planning, and familiarity with sustainability policies.
