This position involves delivering installation, maintenance, and commissioning work on roadside technology used across the strategic road network. The role supports a wider engineering and project delivery team, ensuring that all systems are installed, tested, and maintained to required standards while meeting safety, environmental, and quality expectations.

You will work closely with field teams and specialist contractors, supporting the coordination and delivery of tasks across multiple sites. The role reports into an Assistant Project Manager, who in turn reports to a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel on site.
  • Install, commission, and maintain a range of roadside electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Carry out testing on hardware, software, and integrated systems.
  • Complete all required documentation in line with safety and quality procedures.
  • Assist with planning and delivering project tasks as directed by the Assistant Project Manager.
  • Supervise on-site teams and subcontractors to ensure productivity, compliance, and quality standards are met.
  • Work flexibly across the network, including occasional nights and weekends as required.
Person Requirements:
  • Experience in installation or maintenance of electrical or electronic equipment (essential).
  • Basic IT literacy (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Understanding or previous involvement with roadside technology standards (e.g., HERS) is beneficial.
  • Comfortable working at the roadside and at height.
  • Able to travel across the region as required.
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including ad hoc nights and weekends.
  • Able to pass a basic DBS check.
