A permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a busy fleet maintenance operation supporting essential frontline services across the North Somerset area. This role is based at a modern workshop facility in Weston-super-Mare.
The organisation supports a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and specialist equipment. The successful Commercial Vehicle Technician will play a key part in keeping this fleet safe, compliant and operational.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs on a variety of commercial vehicles, plant and equipment in line with DVSA requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
- Complete inspections, prepare vehicles for testing and ensure all service documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Respond to breakdowns, identify faults quickly and arrange recovery or external support where required.
- Maintain high standards of workshop safety, ensuring tools, equipment and work areas are used correctly and kept in good order.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support the development of apprentices.
- Build positive working relationships with internal customers and contribute to an organised, efficient workshop environment.
- Time-served apprenticeship with City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or an equivalent qualification in vehicle maintenance.
- An LGV Class C / HGV Class 2 licence is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong ability to work independently, safely and effectively in a physically demanding setting.
- Demonstrable experience maintaining commercial vehicles to a high standard, including diagnostics, repairs and routine servicing.
- Solid understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, particularly those used in waste or municipal fleet operations.
