The Opportunity
Looking for a role where no two days are the same, the teamwork is solid, and the career growth is real?
We are looking for an experienced Highways Operative to join our close-knit, 2-to-3-person teams based out of Banwell. You’ll be the backbone of our local infrastructure, keeping our roads safe, smooth, and moving. From essential day-to-day repairs to being a vital part of our Winter Maintenance squad, this is a hands-on role with great variety and excellent earning potential.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Highways Operative
- Getting Hands-On: Delivering high-quality kerbing, hot & cold lay patching, fencing, and signage installation.
- Keeping it Safe: Conducting daily risk assessments, pre-site checks, and ensuring our sites, vehicles, and equipment are safe and secure.
- On the Move: Traveling across the county to handle tarmac work, white works, and gully repairs.
- Stepping Up: Operating a range of modern plant and equipment, and jumping onto flexible day/night shifts and winter standby rotas when the business (and the weather!) needs you.
Essential Requirements for Highways Operative
If you’re a flexible team player who loves working outdoors and isn't afraid of a hard day's graft, you'll fit right in. You’ll just need:
- A valid CSCS Card
- A current UK Driving Licence (with no more than 6 penalty points)
- Proven experience in the highways or manual labour role
- A tech-friendly approach (comfortable using a tablet for daily tasks)
- A flexible attitude toward shift work and a genuine willingness to learn
