We are supporting a client in Cambridgeshire in the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial function. This is a full-time role with a full benefits package.
The successful candidate will play a central role in preparing tender documentation and supporting commercial decision-making across a range of civil engineering and telecommunications-related projects. The position requires a strong understanding of project costing, market capability and delivery capacity. Experience within solar or BESS projects is advantageous. Advanced Excel skills are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing project budgets.
- Managing subcontractor relationships.
- Negotiating contractual terms.
- Administering contract processes such as variations, early warnings and risk assessments.
- Producing commercial reports, including monthly CVRs.
- Maintaining regular communication with clients and project teams.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with the capacity to work to strict deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously.
- Solid financial and commercial awareness, with a clear understanding of pricing, cost control and profit.
- Familiarity with core contract terminology.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate outputs.
- Confident communicator capable of building strong client relationships.
- Able to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt quickly when required.
- Strong numerical and analytical capability to support commercial judgement.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide others.

Professional Background & Qualifications:
- Ideally educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- RICS-accredited undergraduate or postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Experience within civil engineering, telecoms or utilities sectors is desirable.
- Knowledge of NEC contract forms is required.
