The Staff Assistant will perform a range of basic office support activities, including answering phones, directing calls, greeting and directing students and visitors, answering questions, and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or word processing. Management of personnel calendars will be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with new student processing and information gathering.
  • Answers telephones, takes messages, and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; and answers routine inquiries.
  • Performs a variety of routine typing assignments including drafting basic correspondence and data entry.
  • Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes to advising department staff.
  • Copies and/or duplicates materials as requested; may oversee day-to-day operation of copy machine.
  • Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
  • May order, stock, and distribute office supplies.
  • Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: One year of office assistant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a post-secondary education environment.
  • Prior experience with college-age students.
  • Experience with Banner system.
  • Knowledge of USU policies and procedures.
