Senior Powertrain Facilities Technician in Millbrook

Purpose

UTAC’s Powertrain testing department features a plethora of equipment for a wide variety of testing applications, including engine, vehicle and driveline systems. This range of equipment requires frequent maintenance, servicing, calibration and repair as required. The Senior Powertrain Facilities Technician has a critical role in ensuring both planned and reactive technical support is given in all aspects of the department.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled calibration tasks on equipment and test cells.
• Update, maintain and manage calibration records for all equipment.
• Carry out planned servicing/maintenance activities on key equipment.
• Perform reactive repairs on a variety of test equipment.
• Assist with developing engineering solutions to day-to-day technical issues faced by the engineering team when adopting test equipment.
• Carrying out risk assessments & method statements.
• Assist with other roles where required.
• Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers.
• Order parts and maintain stock of critical items.
• Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.

Qualifications

• City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering.
• HNC/HND an advantage, but time-served relevant experience is the overriding factor.

Experience

• Experience in a problem solving, practical role is a necessity.
• Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment.
• Experience supporting mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and calibration programmes.
• Experience in delivering upgrade projects and systems installation would be beneficial.
• Experience of AVL Puma, Horiba STARS and/or Kratzer PATools test automation systems is desirable.
• Experience and knowledge of ISO17025 calibration is desirable.
• Knowledge of calibration, instrumentation and measurement uncertainty.

• Mechanical and electrical systems repair competent.
• Equipment service & calibrations.

• Test bed and equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Basic IT skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
