Purpose
UTACβs Powertrain testing department features a plethora of equipment for a wide variety of testing applications, including engine, vehicle and driveline systems. This range of equipment requires frequent maintenance, servicing, calibration and repair as required. The Senior Powertrain Facilities Technician has a critical role in ensuring both planned and reactive technical support is given in all aspects of the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled calibration tasks on equipment and test cells.
- Update, maintain and manage calibration records for all equipment.
- Carry out planned servicing/maintenance activities on key equipment.
- Perform reactive repairs on a variety of test equipment.
- Assist with developing engineering solutions to day-to-day technical issues faced by the engineering team when adopting test equipment.
- Carrying out risk assessments & method statements.
- Assist with other roles where required.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers.
- Order parts and maintain stock of critical items.
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
Qualifications
- City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering.
- HNC/HND an advantage, but time-served relevant experience is the overriding factor.
Experience
- Experience in a problem solving, practical role is a necessity.
- Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment.
- Experience supporting mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and calibration programmes.
- Experience in delivering upgrade projects and systems installation would be beneficial.
- Experience of AVL Puma, Horiba STARS and/or Kratzer PATools test automation systems is desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of ISO17025 calibration is desirable.
- Knowledge of calibration, instrumentation and measurement uncertainty.
