Purpose
To maintain utilities, facilities and equipment across all facilities and departments including electrical and mechanical systems, emergency equipment, heavy plant and domestic services.
Responsibilities
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
- Planned preventative maintenance to buildings & services including electrical distribution systems and emergency systems.
- Reactive maintenance & repair of buildings & services including full diagnostic fault finding to various electrical, control & mechanical systems.
- HV switching and network control.
- Electrical & mechanical installations & renovations to current IET wiring regulations.
- The electrician is expected to work some overtime to complete essential intrusive maintenance to systems.
- The electrician will be included in an out of hours call out rota which will be paid as an addition to salary.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations.
Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4 or above in Mathematics (Required)
- GCSE grade 4 or above in Science (Required)
- GCSE grade 4 or above in English (Desirable)
- NVQ Level 3 in electrical maintenance / installation (Or equivalent) (Required)
- Level 3 Electrical Installations Diploma (or equivalent) (Required)
- City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations (Or equivalent) (Required)
- AM2 assessment certificate (Or equivalent) (Required)
- Inspection and testing 2391 qualification (Desirable)
- HV Switching certificate (Desirable)
Core competencies:
- Ability to use general hand tools (required).
- Excellent record-keeping skills are required, along with basic computing skills (required).
- Must have the ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve problems and create solutions (required).
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills (required).
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills (required).
- Experience within commercial / light industrial electrical maintenance.
