Reporting to the Technical Director - UK, the successful candidate will provide specialist advice and consultation regarding global certification and legislation to internal testing departments, external clients, the UK Government and its agencies.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultancy and deliver Legislative Compliance Assessments for client projects or vehicles.
- Witness testing on site, at client or 3rd party test facilities (usually UK based but support for the wider UTAC group is occasionally required).
- Be point of contact for customer enquiries relating to homologation and type approval.
- Visit new and existing clients to present capabilities or discuss programmes.
- Assist commercial groups to interpret client RFQ’s and prepare costed proposals.
- Be the point of contact for UTAC UK Homologation Technical Services.
- Review revised and forthcoming regulations and standards to provide technical support and advice as required across Test Services.
- Facilitate technical service designation audits.
- Provide technical sign-off for Homologation test reports and other customer deliverables issued by the UTAC Homologation groups.
- Represent UTAC UK at various SMMT Technical Working Groups or other Industry groups.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Engineering or Science Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
- Management of type approval projects from initial consultation through worst-case scenario to final certification by the Approval Authority for global regions including the UK, EU, North America, China and Gulf States.
- Practical experience in gaining UK GB and UKNI approvals, including IVA, small series and multi-stage builds.
- Project management of automotive Homologation programs including whole vehicle, component and legislative testing.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, 17020 and 17025.
- Proven track record of presenting at seminars or conferences.
