The predicted salary is between 28800 - 48000 £ per year.
A member of the UTAC Special Vehicles Team, this engineering role will support various programs in the development & build of prototype vehicles as well as series production activity. Projects can vary from minor modification of OEM platforms through to significant conversion activity. This role will report to a Principal Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Design and Engineering of mechanical solutions to support the integration of systems into special to role vehicles and automotive projects.
- Overseeing prototype builds and development of solutions.
- Assist with the testing and validation of modified vehicles to meet legislative and project requirements.
- Technical report writing.
- Ensure work is conducted in accordance with the processes and procedures of Special Vehicles.
- Liaise with the Purchasing team, ensuring materials are procured to meet project cost and time constraints.
- Point of contact for technical issues to internal and external customers.
- Ensure that the Bill of Materials are kept up to date and that discrepancies and modifications are fed back via the Engineering Change Process.
- Support the Business Development team in the creation of technical data to support the bid process and proposal writing.
- Support Production Engineering with any technical or programme issues that arise, liaising with the relevant support departments to find resolutions.
- Create and compile production and aftersales documentation as required.
- Support continuous improvement.
- Development of professional relationships with key suppliers.
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
Experience
- Automotive engineering to vehicle manufacturer quality standards.
- Automotive/equipment test and development experience is desired.
- Delivering against customer specified requirements.
- Building and maintaining customer and supplier relationships.
Skills
- Knowledge of vehicle systems and legislative requirements.
- CAE experience, preferably on SolidWorks.
- PC skills including, but not limited to, CAE, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Able to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence at all levels.
- Problem solving.
