Overview

UST is seeking a seasoned Technology Lead (Principal Enterprise Architect) for Asset & Wealth Management to drive and deliver end-to-end technology transformation initiatives within the portfolios of leading investment and wealth management firms. This role requires a unique blend of domain expertise (asset/wealth management), architectural leadership, and transformation technology experience.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping and delivering strategic modernisation efforts, spanning core platforms, data and digital initiatives, and AI-driven innovation in alignment with regulatory, operational, and customer-focused priorities with a key focus on Change the Bank (CTB).

Responsibilities

  • Define the future-state technology strategy for asset and wealth management clients, aligned to business goals such as operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, client experience, and front-to-back integration.
  • Partner with senior business and IT stakeholders to shape and lead Change the Bank portfolios, prioritising initiatives that deliver measurable impact.
  • Lead legacy platform modernisation (e.g., portfolio management systems, order management, core banking systems) through adoption of microservices, cloud, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Oversee digital transformation of front-office and client engagement platforms (e.g., advisor portals, investor dashboards, digital onboarding, portfolio analytics).
  • Support rationalisation and integration of fragmented technology estates resulting from mergers, acquisitions, or platform expansion.
  • Identify and drive AI and data-driven use cases relevant to investment advisory, client servicing, risk management, and operational automation (e.g., hyper-personalisation, RPA, document intelligence, GenAI for regulatory reporting or client communications).
  • Collaborate with data and analytics teams to modernise the data estate, including data lakes, master data governance, lineage tracking, and real-time insights.
  • Serve as the technology lead or architect across large transformation initiatives, guiding multi-disciplinary teams in agile or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management, compliance alignment (e.g., MiFID II, Basel III, ESG reporting), and technology resilience within transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to CIOs, CTOs, Heads of Transformation and COOs across business and technology domains.
  • Engage with platform vendors (e.g., Temenos, Avaloq, Charles River, Murex, Salesforce FSC) and FinTech ecosystem to bring innovation and differentiation to client solutions.

What You Need

  • 15+ years of experience in technology architecture roles, ideally with at least 5 years in asset or wealth management, investment banking, or private banking domains.
  • Proven success in leading transformation programs within CTB functions or strategic change portfolios, including platform upgrades, architecture modernization, and ecosystem integrations.
  • Strong understanding of core investment platforms (e.g., PMS, OMS, CRM, risk engines), middle and back-office systems, and associated data flows.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), API management, enterprise integration, and data architecture.
  • Exposure to AI/ML or Generative AI in real-world applications (e.g., NLP, entity extraction, predictive analytics, conversational AI).
  • Deep appreciation of regulatory landscape, data privacy, and cybersecurity needs within financial services.

Preferred Background

  • Experience working with top-tier banks, asset managers, or technology consulting firms delivering transformation engagements.
  • Prior experience engaging with financial regulators, internal audit, and risk teams during transformation governance.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen; able to translate business priorities into feasible technical strategies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Finance-related disciplines.
  • Industry certifications in cloud (e.g., AWS/Azure Solution Architect), TOGAF, or financial regulation (e.g., CISI, CFA) are desirable.
