The Role:

  • As a Solution Architect, you'll take ownership of end-to-end solution design and architectural governance across strategic healthcare initiatives.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Leading solution architecture activities across multiple healthcare and digital transformation programmes.
    • Defining and governing end-to-end solution designs, ensuring alignment with business, technology, security, and operational requirements.
    • Producing high-quality architectural deliverables, highlighting key technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.
    • Acting as a trusted advisor between business stakeholders, delivery teams, enterprise architecture, and technology partners.
    • Collaborating with engineering teams to ensure solutions are delivered in line with approved architectural principles and standards.
    • Developing technology roadmaps that support both immediate business priorities and long-term strategic goals.
    • Supporting architecture governance processes and ensuring solution compliance with enterprise standards.
    • Providing guidance on technology selection, solution options, and investment decisions to maximise business value.
    • Reviewing and assuring architecture, high-level design, and detailed design artefacts produced by internal teams, suppliers, and third parties.
    • Supporting project estimation and planning activities to ensure architectural scope and technical complexity are accurately represented.
    • Contributing to reusable architecture patterns, standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organisation.
    • Collaborating closely with fellow architects to drive consistency, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring:

  • We're seeking an experienced architect with a strong blend of technical expertise, business awareness, and stakeholder management capability.
  • Extensive experience in Solution Architecture within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong background designing solutions using Microsoft .NET / Java EE, or both.
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven ability to produce solution architecture deliverables across both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working within multi-vendor, outsourced, and distributed delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, application design, integration patterns, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience designing:
    • Cloud-hosted solutions;
    • Web applications and digital platforms;
    • APIs and microservices architectures;
    • Enterprise integration solutions.
  • Strong understanding of information security, data governance, GDPR, and the protection of sensitive customer data.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience balancing strategic thinking with hands-on architectural delivery.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with enterprise integration technologies such as: MuleSoft, Talend, Software AG, IBM MQ (WMQ), Azure Integration Services.
  • Experience recommending and implementing Azure cloud capabilities to meet business, operational, and architectural objectives.
  • Knowledge of ArchiMate 3 and enterprise modelling techniques.
  • Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, retail healthcare, regulated, or highly governed environments.
  • TOGAF, ISEB, or equivalent architecture certification.
