About the Role
We are seeking a Senior AWS Application & Platform Engineer to help design and build cloud-native applications, developer platforms and AI-enabled engineering capabilities from the ground up.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role combining AWS application development, serverless and event-driven architecture, Python, Generative AI, developer tooling and automation.
You will build APIs, reusable application patterns, developer accelerators and AI-enabled services that help engineering teams deliver software more efficiently, securely and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build cloud-native applications, APIs and platform services on AWS.
- Develop serverless and event-driven solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS and related services.
- Build AI-enabled and Generative AI solutions using Amazon Bedrock and agentic AI technologies.
- Develop reusable application patterns, templates, quick-start solutions and developer tooling.
- Build Python-based automation, APIs and engineering services.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
- Develop internal developer tooling and self-service capabilities that improve engineering productivity.
- Embed security, governance, observability and automated testing into engineering solutions.
- Apply AI-assisted development practices to improve software engineering and developer workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform, security and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable and well-documented solutions.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices and reusable development patterns.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong software engineering and application development background.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing solutions on AWS.
- Strong Python development experience.
- Experience creating reusable development patterns, engineering tooling, or developer accelerators.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, Generative AI or AI-native application development.
- Exposure to agentic AI applications, AI assistants or AI-enabled engineering workflows.
- Experience using AI coding assistants / AI-assisted development practices.
- Strong experience with AWS serverless and event-driven technologies, particularly: AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, S3
- Experience designing and building cloud-native APIs and backend services.
- Strong CI/CD and DevOps automation experience using tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation and/or AWS CDK.
- Experience with Docker and container platforms such as ECS/EKS or Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of API design, automated testing, observability, and secure-by-design engineering.
- Strong stakeholder collaboration and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- FastAPI or Django / Python API framework experience.
- Internal Developer Platform or Developer Experience (DevEx) engineering.
- Experience building AI platforms or AI-enabled developer services.
- GitOps and policy-as-code experience.
- Amazon Q, Kiro or equivalent AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Experience working within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
- Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI and auditability.
