About the role

In your role as Pensions Policy Administrator, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to support the Pensions Policy team in relation to its various ongoing tasks and projects, assisting in the production of reports, committee papers and technical documentation, managing institution, member and internal queries on technical and policy issues, and work arising out of actuarial valuations.

As a trusted part of the Pensions Policy and Stakeholder team you will be responsible for:

  • Providing the Pensions Business and other parts of the Trustee Company with technical and administrative support for the various tasks and projects which are being undertaken. This work includes, but is not limited to, assisting with project documentation and reports, responding to pensions technical, rules and legislative queries from internal colleagues or external stakeholders, and supporting in the drafting of papers and updates to colleagues and committees.
  • Working independently under the guidance of senior team members, analyse and interpret the operation of the scheme rules and other pensions legislation and apply them in relation to scheme policies, communications materials, decisions and projects.
  • Responding to technical queries from internal colleagues and external stakeholders, using own initiative and knowledge to source appropriate technical information, with the support of colleagues where necessary, ensuring that queries are dealt with in a timely manner and that the responses are complete, correct and appropriate.
  • Providing support to team colleagues in their liaison with internal legal and risk colleagues on technical pension issues, plus in their liaison with the scheme’s stakeholders and committees.
  • Providing support on employer participation cases (including section 75 employer debt cases), in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and scheme policies.
  • Supporting with the coordination, drafting and production of committee/meeting papers.
  • Assisting in the production of reports and information for colleagues, institutions and other parties as appropriate.
  • Supporting on other projects and tasks as required, such as work arising out of actuarial valuations, and including working directly with colleagues outside the Department if necessary.
  • Supporting and attend, as appropriate, committees and groups.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • An ability to self-motivate and prioritise work effectively is an important requirement.
  • Confidence to work with colleagues of all grades and across departments.
  • Confidence to work independently and accurately. The jobholder is expected to review his/her own work for accuracy before submission.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in all forms and to a very high standard.
  • Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to produce technically accurate documentation of a high standard.
  • Good skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in a pensions environment is strongly preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of report production and letter writing is preferred but not essential.
