We are looking for a friendly, proactive, and organised Library Resource Centre Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a varied role where you'll be the welcoming face of the LRC, helping students and staff get the most out of our library services, resources, and study spaces. You'll support day-to-day operations, maintain high service standards, and ensure our library environment is a safe, inclusive, and engaging place to learn. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, has excellent communication skills, and is confident using digital tools.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality customer service, supporting students and staff in person, via email and Microsoft Teams.
- Build positive, professional relationships with young people while supervising the LRC and maintaining a safe, productive study environment.
- Provide general LRC assistance, including basic IT support, printing, photocopying, shelving and maintaining service standards.
- Manage library and laptop circulation processes, including issuing, returns, overdues, reservations, inter-college loans and accurate record-keeping.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and college procedures, handling challenging situations confidently and professionally.
- Promote and enhance the LRC through inductions, workshops, displays, events, marketing channels, SharePoint and digital content.
- Support administrative and operational tasks such as stock control, purchase orders, print credits, bursary information and stationery sales.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by gathering student feedback, improving processes (including AI/automation), and working flexibly as part of the wider team.
