HILLARYS COACHWORKS, a busy and well-established crash repair centre in Tunbridge Wells, is looking for an experienced and skilled Panel Beater to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Overtime available. Performance bonuses included.
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per year (depending on experience).
Role Overview: As a Panel Beater, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to manufacturer standards. You will work on a variety of vehicles, ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assess vehicle damage to determine repair or replacement requirements.
- Repair panels by removing dents and reshaping metal using specialist tools.
- Remove and replace damaged panels, ensuring precise alignment.
- Carry out welding and joining using MIG brazing, spot welding, riveting, and bonding techniques.
- Perform structural repairs using jigs and pulling systems.
- Prepare surfaces for refinishing, including filling, sanding, and priming.
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body construction and repair techniques.
- Experience working with materials such as steel and aluminium.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Physically fit and able to carry out demanding, hands-on work.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Body Repair (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a body shop or accident repair centre.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
