Freelance Guidewire Business Analyst – ClaimCenter & Cloud (UK)

Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional on-site workshops

Engagement: Freelance / Contract

Duration: 6–12 months (likely extension)

IR35: Outside IR35 - subject to assessment.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Guidewire Business Analyst with strong ClaimCenter and Cloud expertise to join a large-scale insurance transformation programme. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working across end-to-end Guidewire implementations, deep functional knowledge of ClaimCenter and Cloud technologies, and the ability to work closely with business and technical stakeholders. You will play a key role in shaping requirements, supporting design decisions, and ensuring ClaimCenter solutions align with operational, regulatory, and customer-centric needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Analysis & Requirements
    • Gather, analyse, and refine business requirements for ClaimCenter configurations and integrations.
    • Translate business needs into clear functional specifications and user stories.
    • Conduct workshops with claims, operations, underwriting, and technical teams.
    • Validate requirements against Guidewire best practices and product capabilities.
  • Functional & Solution Design
    • Support functional design activities for ClaimCenter features, workflows, rules, and integrations.
    • Work with Solution Architects and Developers to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical design.
    • Provide input on data mapping, claims processes, FNOL, payments, recoveries, reserves, and policy integration touchpoints.
  • Delivery & Implementation Support
    • Support configuration, testing, and rollout activities across multiple release cycles.
    • Work closely with QA teams to develop test scenarios and validate outcomes.
    • Participate in defect triage and help drive resolution.
    • Contribute to change impact assessments and readiness planning.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a bridge between business users and technical teams.
    • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly and proactively.
    • Build strong relationships with project managers, product owners, and claims stakeholders.

Experience Required

  • 3+ years as a Business Analyst within General Insurance (P&C).
  • 3+ years’ hands-on experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter (configuration, workflows, business rules).
  • Experience in at least one full ClaimCenter implementation or major enhancement programme.
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud implementations or migrations.
  • Strong understanding of claims processes, coverages, bordereaux, payments, recoveries, and regulatory considerations.
  • Ability to write clear user stories, functional specs, process maps, and test scenarios.
  • Comfortable working in Agile (Scrum) and hybrid delivery environments.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to PolicyCenter and/or BillingCenter.
  • SQL or data analysis experience.
  • UK General Insurance domain knowledge (regulatory, fraud, claims SLAs, supply chain, etc.).
  • Experience in multi-vendor or offshore delivery environments.
