We are looking for a highly experienced Functional Lead to take ownership of ETRM delivery within our trading technology function. This is a hands-on, influential role with direct impact on high-value trading activities across European energy markets. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape strategy, drive change, and deliver capabilities that enable business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the functional leader for ETRM delivery, setting direction, standards, and pace across your vertical.
- Take ownership of all functional and non-functional change within your remit, ensuring quality delivery.
- Validate and approve cross-vertical changes, ensuring alignment with agreed standards and business needs.
- Assess the impact of major changes, provide high-level estimates, and communicate implications clearly to stakeholders.
- Manage and prioritise the delivery backlog, balancing business value, technical direction, cost, and benefit.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of systems and processes within your area.
- Partner with Trading, Sales, Middle Office, and Back Office to translate business needs into deliverable requirements.
- Oversee user acceptance testing, ensuring all changes meet agreed criteria before go-live.
- Identify risks and dependencies early, ensuring ETRM delivery stays on track.
- Collaborate with Technical Leads and Solution Architects to align on roadmaps and annual delivery plans.
- Lead a multi-location team of Business Analysts, Developers, and QAs, as well as line-managing BAs in other delivery areas.
- Mentor and develop high-performing teams, building the next generation of functional leaders.
- Maintain a minimum of two days per week in the office to promote collaboration and engagement.
What You Will Bring
- In-depth knowledge of the energy trading industry (essential).
- Experience across Natural Gas and Power trading, including both physical and financial products.
- Proven track record as a Business Analyst or Functional Lead in ETRM or energy trading environments.
- Strong understanding of the deal lifecycle and how to optimise an ETRM system across front, middle, and back office.
- Experience delivering major ETRM upgrades or implementations; experience with ION’s OpenLink v18 or v25 is highly advantageous.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, lead cross-location teams, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to secure buy-in before go-live.
- Hands-on experience with cloud and modern technology in fast-moving, change-heavy environments.
- Pragmatic and adaptable, with the confidence to challenge decisions where necessary.
- Degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in a numerate or computing-related subject.
