The primary purpose of this position is to assist and participate in the planning and administration of a large, enhanced major sports and athletic activities program for an Air Force organization. The role includes comprehensive year‑round sports programming, interface with contracted officials’ organisations, coordination with the Fitness Center Contracting Officer, planning and budgeting for equipment and supplies, maintenance of equipment and facility oversight, and acting as the point of contact for all intramural and varsity coaches.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • One year of specialised experience in planning, supervising, administering, or conducting a sports program that includes a variety of individual and team sports, and guiding participants in skill development.
  • Knowledge of a range of sports activities and services, participant interests and needs, and the methods that enable planning and conduct of diverse sports program activities, including preparing statements of work for contractors.
  • Understanding of physical and psychological factors in individual and team sports, and the nature and organisation of recreational and competitive sports activities.
  • Skill in managing financial and equipment resources for the sports program area, including estimating and tracking budgetary requirements; issuing and tracking equipment use; controlling inventory; monitoring facility cleaning; and performing preventative, quarterly, and emergency maintenance and repair of sports equipment.
  • Skill in conducting clinics or seminars to inform and/or train coaches and officials; training and developing athletes; and planning, organising, and conducting tournaments or competitions.
  • Ability to establish program objectives or performance goals, assess progress, and adapt program requirements within available resources with minimal adverse impact on participant satisfaction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including use of information technology to support required program functions, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers.
  • Certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation required.

  • Handling and safeguarding of sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations; the position may be coded as mission essential.
  • Travel may be required by military and/or civilian aircraft, and possibly to the US or other countries for official duties or necessary training.
  • Completion of a 6‑month probationary period is required.
  • Start and end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organisation’s flexible working policies; overtime may be required.
  • Assignments beyond those included in this description may occur if appropriate to the grade and skill set.
  • Mandatory training and certifications must be completed and maintained in accordance with AFI 34‑266, Air Force Fitness and Sports Programs, or relevant instructions.
  • Security clearance and right to work in the UK are required.
