Job Description:

The position prepares and serves hot and cold beverages and food items from a coffee shop/food service operation and performs cashier duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare a variety of hot/cold beverages such as cappuccinos, brewed coffee, lattes, espresso, hot chocolate, blended drinks (e.g., milkshakes), selecting proper ingredients.
  • Set up work area and prepare fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving.
  • Operate an electronic cash register.
  • Implement safety and sanitation practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • Food Handler’s Certificate or completion of food handler training.
  • Eligibility: Must be a UK national, hold UK citizenship and have lived in the UK for at least 8 of the last 10 years.
  • Knowledge of hot and cold food preparation principles, specialized cooking techniques, and artistic skills such as carving and garnishing.
  • Knowledge of health and sanitation regulations, food protection procedures, and prevention of foodborne illnesses and spoilage.
  • Knowledge in use of weights, measures, and standard formulas to perform yield testing, calculate portion costs, and scale recipes accurately.
  • Proficiency in evaluating the freshness and doneness of raw and cooked items based on appearance, consistency, texture, and temperature.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate complex cooking sequences to ensure all menu items are prepared according to standardized recipes and ready for mealtime.

  • Must handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable UK laws.

  • May require travel by military or civilian aircraft, and travel to the US or other countries for duty or training.
  • Required to complete a 6‑month probationary period.
  • Hours may be modified due to mission needs; overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must successfully complete a pre‑employment physical and be able to perform moderate to heavy physical effort, including standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting up to 40 lb unassisted, occasionally over 50 lb, pushing carts weighing 400‑500 lb, working on ladders, and using powered cleaning equipment.
  • Requires a security clearance and right to work in the UK.
  • Certain restrictions may apply to US citizens and dual nationals due to the Status of Forces Agreement.
