Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and overhaul complex major components and systems of combustion-powered automotive vehicles, electric-powered vehicles and equipment, towed vehicles and equipment, over-the-road trucks, and comparable vehicles. You will be responsible for performing troubleshooting defects and diagnosing malfunctions and maintaining, repairing, and/or overhauling complex major components and systems. You will interpret and apply manufacturers’ repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts and environmental and safety manuals. In the course of your duties, you will utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Must have a valid UK Driving License - Large Goods Vehicle (Cat C) and NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) in addition to demonstrating experience in the key skills listed below.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and policies to include environmental directives pertaining to handling hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of equipment common to the trade i.e., front-end alignment and wheel balancing equipment, turning and grinding equipment for servicing brake drums and discs or rotor assemblies, and drilling and pressure bleeding devices.
- Knowledge of technical practices in order to repair and/or overhaul major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, trans axles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.
- Skill in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment, i.e., computerized engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, special feeler and dial gauges and in troubleshooting defects, diagnosing malfunctions and determining the kind and extent of maintenance and/or repairs needed.
- Skill in using hand and power tools common to the occupation, i.e., wrenches, screwdrivers, insulated pliers, electric drills, pneumatic wrenches, and soldering irons.
- Ability to interpret and apply manufacturers’ repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals.
- Ability to maintain, repair, and overhaul complex major components and systems in combustion-powered automotive vehicles, electric-powered vehicles and equipment, towed vehicles and equipment, over-the road trucks, and comparable vehicles without more than normal supervision.

- You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
- This position may also be coded as mission essential.
- Travel on military or civilian aircraft to the US or other countries may be required for official duties and training.
- You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
- Be prepared for a flexible schedule, including potential overtime, on-call duties, and shift work, as mission needs dictate.
- You may also be assigned other duties appropriate to your role.
- You must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- A pre-employment physical is required, and you may be subject to drug testing under specific circumstances, such as reasonable suspicion or after an accident.
- You may be required to operate a wide range of vehicles, from passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks and material handling equipment.
- You must meet all certification requirements of the position and may be required to guide and/or train lower graded employees.

You will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK. This position may have certain restrictions on US citizens including US dual nationals due to the Status of Forces Agreement.
