About us

UCL is a world-leading research-intensive university, consistently ranked among the best universities globally. Our Research and Innovation Services (RIS) directorate plays a vital role in supporting UCL's academic community, providing specialist expertise and services across the research and innovation lifecycle, from funding applications and award management to contracts and compliance.

The Award Services team works closely with researchers and professional services colleagues to support the development, submission and management of research funding applications. Our EU & International team provides specialist support for international funding opportunities, including European Commission programmes such as Horizon Europe and US federal funding, helping UCL researchers secure funding and deliver world-class research.

About the role

We are seeking a Research Manager (EU & International) to join our Award Services team within Research and Innovation Services.

This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE), offered on a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months. The role is based at UCL's Bloomsbury Campus, with hybrid working arrangements available.

The role provides an opportunity to support UCL's internationally funded research portfolio, working closely with academic departments, researchers and professional services colleagues to facilitate successful funding applications and the effective setup of research awards.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and supporting research funding proposals, providing specialist advice on research costing, funder requirements and financial compliance, and ensuring applications meet institutional and external funding requirements. Particular emphasis will be placed on European Commission funding, including Horizon Europe, and US federal funding programmes such as those administered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The postholder will also support the development of complex and strategic funding bids, liaise with external funders and collaborators, and work closely with colleagues across Research and Innovation Services to ensure a coordinated approach to research funding and award management.

About you

We are looking for an organised, analytical and collaborative individual with a strong understanding of research and innovation funding and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to researchers and colleagues.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across different teams will be key to success in this role. The ability to adapt to changing requirements and contribute to improvements in processes and service delivery is also important.
