This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with up to five years' post‑qualification experience to join our Document Review and Collation (DRC) team in a substantive, client‑facing role with real scope for career development. The DRC team provides multidisciplinary expertise and scalable legal resources to support all TLT legal groups when delivering large‑scale projects and legal managed services for our clients. The team is composed of qualified Solicitors and Paralegals who support both contentious and non‑contentious fee earners from across the firm, working predominantly on data subject access requests (DSARs) and document review and disclosure exercises. We offer flexible hybrid working, with 50% office attendance required for this role. The core DRC team is based in our Bristol office, but we will also consider candidates based in our Manchester office.
Role Responsibilities
- DSAR and Data Protection
- Managing and progressing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) from initial receipt through to final response, ensuring quality and consistency throughout.
- Conducting quality control review of documents to a high standard, with particular focus on DSAR matters.
- Serving as a point of contact for internal client teams on DSAR process queries and risk appetite.
- Maintaining and applying a solid working knowledge of data protection principles, including the definition of personal data and its practical application in a DSAR context.
- Contributing to the training of team members on foundational data protection concepts.
- Document Review and eDiscovery
- Taking a hands‑on role across relevant stages of the eDiscovery lifecycle, which may include platform set‑up, workflow management, quality control and the conduct of document review.
- Overseeing document review projects from pre‑engagement set‑up through to project close, where your experience allows.
- Managing review workflows to ensure review rates are maintained in line with relevant deadlines.
- Providing eDiscovery consultancy support to internal and external clients as required.
- Project and Team Support
- Acting as a liaison between project teams and client teams, communicating updates and reporting findings clearly and professionally.
- Supporting senior team members on workflows outside of eDiscovery and document review as business needs require.
- Where appropriate to your experience, providing day‑to‑day guidance and support to Paralegals and Graduate Solicitor Apprentices working on your matters.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor with 1‑5 years’ post‑qualification experience.
- Experience working on data subject access requests, with a working knowledge of the end‑to‑end DSAR process.
- Solid understanding of data protection principles and their practical application.
- Experience using Relativity or a comparable document review platform.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external clients.
- Strong self‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently to meet deadlines.
- A collaborative, team‑oriented approach with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- A practical, creative approach to problem‑solving with the ability to manage issues quickly and effectively.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience overseeing or contributing to document review projects in a disclosure, regulatory or litigation context.
- Working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the ability to apply it practically across the eDiscovery lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Relativity or other review platforms used in the eDiscovery and DSAR context (including any AI‑assisted review tools).
- Experience working within a managed legal services or legal process outsourcing environment.
- Exposure to document redaction, privilege review or trial bundle preparation.
- Experience providing guidance or informal supervision to junior colleagues, Paralegals or Trainees.
- Previous experience engaging with Graduate Solicitor Apprentices or Trainees in a structured programme.
