We are seeking a Computational Linguist to support multilingual AI research projects involving language analysis, dataset development, and linguistic evaluation of AI model outputs. The role focuses on applying linguistic expertise to large language datasets and collaborating with engineers and researchers to improve language technologies such as translation, speech systems, and multilingual language models. This position is ideal for someone with a strong theoretical linguistics background and experience working with natural language processing (NLP) systems and multilingual data.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform linguistic analyses on large multilingual datasets.
- Conduct error analysis of AI-generated text, identifying frequent and critical linguistic errors.
- Develop and maintain annotation guidelines for language-related AI projects.
- Conduct typological and sociolinguistic research across multiple languages.
- Evaluate linguistic outputs related to translation, speech recognition, and language generation systems.
- Perform Responsible AI language analysis, including detection of toxic language, bias, and cultural sensitivity issues.
- Review linguistic research literature and summarize findings for technical teams.
- Compare vendor deliverables and identify recurring linguistic error patterns.
- Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and native speakers across multiple languages.
- Communicate linguistic insights and analysis results to cross-functional teams.
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including research and business communication.
- Native or near-native proficiency in at least one language other than English (Hindi strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis.
- Experience querying databases using SQL.
- Ability to manage multiple research or analysis tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to linguistic detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with low-resource languages.
- Familiarity with international language classification standards.
- Experience collaborating with machine learning engineers, NLP researchers, or data scientists.
- Background in corpus linguistics or linguistic fieldwork.
- Experience contributing to academic or technical research publications.
- Basic project management knowledge.
Education
- Master’s or PhD in Linguistics or a related field required (PhD preferred).
- Strong foundation in the following areas:

Experience
- 0–3 years of relevant experience in linguistics, language data analysis, or NLP research.
