We’re looking for an experienced Technical Artist to join a growing game development team working on a high-profile VR title. This role sits at the intersection of art and engineering. You’ll help ensure the game looks exceptional while running smoothly on standalone VR hardware. Your ability to combine strong artistic judgment with deep technical expertise will directly contribute to delivering polished, high-performance visuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve and define environment and VFX workflows, tooling and shaders
- Develop and maintain clean, optimised hand-written HLSL shaders
- Deliver polished, performant VR visuals
- Create interactive VFX for gameplay and UI
- Identify and resolve technical, visual and performance issues
- Optimise assets and rendering for mobile/standalone VR platforms
- Collaborate closely with artists, engineers and designers
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience using Unity
- 2+ years in a Technical Artist role
- Deep knowledge of Forward and Built-in rendering pipelines
- Strong experience with mobile and VR optimisation
- Expertise in hand-written shaders (HLSL)
- Extensive experience with Unity toolset including: Animations, Timelines, Particle Systems, VFX Graph, Nested Prefabs, Material Property Blocks
- Experience creating technical 3D and 2D assets
- Experience baking arbitrary data into textures and mesh properties
- Strong understanding of real-time rendering and performance profiling
- Strong bridge between art and engineering
- Experience shipping mobile or standalone VR titles
- Comfortable improving workflows and building tooling
- Strong portfolio demonstrating interactive visuals
