Due to maternity cover, an established Blackburn business is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will support a broad range of accounting and finance activities and play an important part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This position is ideal for someone with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and a desire to develop within a finance function. Previous experience in a finance or accounting environment is preferred, but attitude and aptitude are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring an in-house sales invoicing system, including raising invoices, credit notes and amendments
- Liaising with franchisees and responding to queries
- Managing accounts payable across multiple entities
- Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining accurate records
- Preparing supplier payment runs to agreed deadlines
- Posting bank receipts and payments (Sage 200)
- Assisting with the preparation of financial information for the wider finance team
- Handling telephone and email queries in a professional and timely manner
- Maintaining accurate client files, scanning and filing documentation
- Learning and understanding FCA compliance requirements
- Supporting the maintenance of policies, procedures and manuals
Skills & Experience
- Previous finance or accounts experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- IT literate with Microsoft Office; Sage 200 experience advantageous
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- A reliable team player with a flexible and enthusiastic approach
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
