About the Role

Are you a practical problem solver with a passion for maintenance work? The U.S. Embassy London is seeking a skilled Trades Helper / Truck Driver to join our dynamic Facilities Management team! In this role, you'll work alongside experienced tradespeople, supporting essential maintenance operations across our embassy properties. From electrical and plumbing work to carpentry and HVAC systems, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop your skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Skilled Tradespeople: Assist with electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, carpentry, and minor construction projects
  • Drive & Deliver: Operate a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Class II truck to support facilities operations
  • Maintain Properties: Work on both government-owned and leased functional and residential properties
  • Track & Report: Monitor maintenance needs, keep accurate records, and manage work orders
  • Be Part of the Team: Collaborate with technicians and Facilities Management staff to keep our mission running smoothly

What We're Looking For:

Essential Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 1 in Electrical, Plumbing, or Construction (or US equivalent)
  • Experience in building maintenance or as a Trades Helper
  • Current full UK/EU manual driver's license with HGV Class II qualification
  • Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
