Job Description
Associate Director: Structural Engineer – Belfast office
We’re looking for an experienced structural engineer with strong business acumen and a proven track record in project delivery and assessment of existing structures.
The Belfast Structures team focuses on projects worldwide, specialising in healthcare, data centres, commercial, hospitality, education, and civic sectors for public and private clients.
This role involves delivering national and international construction projects.
Duties of the Associate Director role
- Effectively control the commercial, managerial, and technical aspects of projects and business areas for which you are responsible.
- Sourcing opportunities and preparing fee proposals for client submission, including resources and programmes.
- Developing relationships with new clients and enhancing relationships with existing clients.
- Leading a team of engineers and technicians designing building infrastructure schemes.
- Developing the skills of employees through mentoring and training, ensuring clear career direction.
- Ensuring AECOM principles on project delivery are conducted in line with company policy, delivering quality on all aspects of project delivery.
Specific Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of design in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.
- Excellent understanding of the application of the current Eurocodes relating to structural design.
- Experience in assessment of existing structures and justification, as well as new build designs.
- Ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks related to health & safety, design, and construction of buildings.
- Strong communication skills, promoting your message to senior management and representing AECOM professionally to clients and external bodies.
- Ability to accurately check and verify work, ensuring it meets technical standards and is managed within programme and budget constraints.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng).
- Chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE).
Desirable Attributes
- Solid track record of working on and successfully delivering large, diverse, complex projects as a structures discipline leader.
