To support this new project, we are seeking a Project Cost Estimator to join our team at our Capenhurst/Birchwood site. In this role, you will work within our Government Services function as a key interface between site teams and Group stakeholders to ensure effective planning, coordination, and delivery across complex programmes.

You will be responsible for developing accurate and robust project cost estimates that support investment decisions and project delivery. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will ensure estimates reflect project scope, risks, schedules, and commercial considerations throughout the project lifecycle.

You will provide estimating expertise across major capital projects, supporting project development, business case preparation, change assessments, and cost assurance activities to enable informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Develop Cost Estimates
    • Develop and maintain project cost estimates using recognised estimating methodologies.
    • Produce probabilistically modelled cost estimates to support investment decisions.
    • Develop counter-estimates to validate supplier submissions and project proposals.
  • Support Project Delivery
    • Assess the cost impact of project changes, risks, and opportunities.
    • Support the development of Capital Expenditure Proposals and business cases.
    • Provide cost estimating expertise throughout project development and execution.
  • Drive Estimating Excellence
    • Carry out peer reviews and estimate assurance activities.
    • Promote estimating best practices, standards, and methodologies.
    • Support lessons learned, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What Do You Need to Thrive in This Role?

  • Qualifications
    • Professional Cost Estimating qualification (AACE or equivalent) desirable.
  • Experience
    • Significant experience in project cost estimating for major capital projects.
    • Experience supporting large-scale projects and developing robust cost estimates.
    • Experience of brownfield projects, turnarounds, shutdowns, or outage activities.
  • Technical & Professional Capability
    • Strong understanding of cost estimating methodologies and probabilistic modelling.
    • Ability to interpret technical documentation and develop reliable cost estimates.
    • Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
