We are looking for a Head of Business Development (Nuclear) to join us at our Capenhurst site. In this role, you will lead the identification, evaluation and development of strategic growth opportunities that support our long-term ambitions.

You will act as a central connector across the organisation, bringing together cross functional teams to shape new propositions, strengthen the resilience of our portfolio and drive diversification into emerging markets. This position plays a critical role in turning strategy into action and ensuring the business is well positioned for sustained, future focused growth.

At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what we’re looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences, along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and translate corporate strategy into clear business development priorities and opportunity pipelines. Monitor markets, customer trends, competitors and emerging technologies to identify areas of strategic relevance. Provide strategic insight and recommendations that inform decision making, investment prioritisation and portfolio direction.
  • Opportunity Identification and Incubation: Proactively identify and assess new markets, partnerships, customer segments, products and services. Build early-stage business cases including market sizing, value proposition development, commercial modelling and risk assessment. Lead the incubation of new concepts through pilots, research and customer validation to build evidence and refine propositions. Support the ongoing development of the opportunity pipeline with defined stages, criteria and appropriate governance.
  • Cross Functional Alignment: Act as an integrator and facilitator across functions including Strategy, Commercial, Engineering, Projects, Operations, Finance and Legal. Coordinate teams to ensure alignment around new opportunities and to enable effective cross functional contribution. Lead workshops, opportunity sprints and collaborative sessions to accelerate ideation and problem solving.
  • Partnerships and Ecosystem Building: Identify and evaluate strategic partnership opportunities that enhance capability, accelerate market entry or support new propositions. Conduct due diligence, support negotiations and co-develop partnership structures and go to market models. Build strong networks across relevant markets and ecosystems to uncover emerging opportunities.
  • Project Sponsorship: Develop robust financial models, pricing strategies and return on investment assessments for new opportunities. Prepare high quality briefs and recommendations for senior stakeholders, investment committees and governance boards. Sponsor strategic initiatives from concept through to delivery, ensuring projects are delivered to scope, budget and schedule in line with the business case.
  • Stakeholder Management and Communication: Build strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders to support alignment and influence decisions. Prepare and deliver clear, compelling presentations, proposals and strategic narratives. Communicate progress, opportunities, risks and outcomes effectively across the organisation.
