We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team at Urenco’s Gronau, Germany site. In this role you are a member of a multi-disciplinary Design Team. You will deliver Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to multiple customers within Urenco, including conducting technical feasibility studies and Best Available Technology (BAT) assessments.
As an Electrical design engineer, you will support the development of Conceptual and Basic Design deliverables for new builds or modifications of production facilities. You will work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer in design development, design specifications, and safety aspects. Additionally, you will provide input to the Plant Safety Case and contribute to the delivery of plant design concepts and feasibility/optioneering studies. Your role will involve applying engineering standards and exploring cutting-edge technology to support the delivery of design projects to Urenco customers. You will also provide expert advice and knowledge on plant systems, components, and engineering specifications, including safety and lessons learned, across multiple Urenco projects.

What You’ll Do:
- Promote Safety Culture: Actively foster a proactive safety culture, conducting analyses to create a learning-from-experience mindset.
- Design Development: Ensure plant designs incorporate safety features based on best industrial practices and lessons learned.
- Electrical Design Engineering: Evaluate electrical design aspects of centrifuge drive systems, electrical power generation (diesel generators, UPS) and power distribution ranging from site HV to plant LV, contribute to feasibility studies, and perform optioneering and best available technology studies.
- Support Conceptual Design: Prepare Conceptual Design and Design Specifications with a focus on electrical engineering expertise.
- Support Basic Design Packages: Contribute to Basic Design packages for Core Plant Technology (CPT), particularly in electrical systems and equipment.
- Project Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight on Detailed Design and supplier manufacturing quality processes, as requested by site or group project managers.
- Define and Maintain Design Expertise: Define and maintain CPT design expertise based on Urenco’s best practices and world-class technology from our Design Engineering Excellence Centre.
- Group Reference Design and Safety Case: Establish and maintain standards for Group Reference Design and safety case requirements.
- Post Implementation Reviews: Support Post Implementation Reviews in the electrical expertise area, ensuring feedback to the Design Authority from a safety, license compliance, operational, and asset management perspective.
What You Need to Thrive in This Role:
Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related field. Demonstrable experience and expertise in the electrical engineering field.
Desirable Qualifications: Additional post-university degree or training in a science/engineering discipline relevant to the expertise area.
Skills & Experience: Proven ability to analyse and model complex technical design problems and define advanced solutions. Proficiency in modelling electrical systems. Strong problem-solving abilities to apply past experience and knowledge to new challenges and contribute to organisational learning. Expertise in large industrial, process or nuclear environment, particularly in electrical systems and design engineering. Ability to analyse measurement data from complex process and electrical systems to optimise performance and identify root causes of events.
