You’ll provide comprehensive, proactive, and confidential executive support to a senior leader (Group Head of Government Affairs) while simultaneously assisting with policy research, stakeholder engagement, and government relations tasks.

What you’ll do:

  • Personal Assistant & Executive Support
    • Diary Management: Proactively manage complex diaries, prioritising meetings with government officials, stakeholders, and internal teams, resolving conflicts with diplomacy.
    • Inbox & Correspondence: Monitor inboxes, fielding and drafting high-level correspondence on behalf of the senior leader.
    • Meeting Coordination: Organize meetings (internal/external), prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, and track action items.
    • Travel & Logistics: Coordinate national/international travel arrangements, including itineraries and accommodation, submit expense reports in a timely manner and process invoices.
    • Briefings: Ensure the Group Head of Government Affairs is fully briefed for meetings, with relevant documents produced and shared in advance.
  • Government Affairs & Public Affairs Support
    • Political Monitoring: Monitor parliamentary activity, select committees, debates, and policy consultations relevant to the organization.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for MPs, councillors, civil servants, and partner organizations.
    • Briefing Papers & Reports: Research, draft, and edit policy briefings, reports, and responses to government consultations.
    • Event Coordination: Support the planning and execution of policy roundtables, webinars, and parliamentary receptions.
    • Relationship Management: Maintain CRM systems to track stakeholder relationships and contacts.

What do you need to thrive in this role?

  • Political Awareness: A clear interest in, and understanding of, the UK political landscape (parliamentary processes, Whitehall, local government).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to draft professional, concise briefings and correspondence.
  • Organisation: Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities under pressure while maintaining extreme attention to detail.
  • Discretion: Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Experience: Previous experience as an Executive Assistant, PA, or in a fast-paced administrative role, preferably supporting senior leadership or policy functions preferred.
  • IT Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and virtual meeting platforms (Teams/Zoom).
