We are seeking an Export Control Officer to join our team at our Capenhurst site. In this role, you will provide expert export control support to the Urenco Technology & Development (UTD) and Investment Programme functions. As part of the UTD Export Control team, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting new projects, ensuring compliance with applicable export control legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal governance processes.

What you’ll do:
- Project Export Control Support: Provide export control advice and support to project teams, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Develop supplier and system maps to support project activities. Respond promptly to export control queries from stakeholders.
- Export Licence Management: Prepare and submit export licence applications through SPIRE. Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), licences and End User Undertakings (EUUs). Maintain accurate export control records and documentation.
- Training & Awareness: Deliver export control training and support wider compliance initiatives. Educate project personnel on relevant UK, EU and US export control requirements and internal processes. Contribute to the development and improvement of training materials.
- Governance & Continuous Improvement: Draft, review and update export control procedures, work instructions and governance documentation. Identify gaps in existing controls and recommend improvements. Support the ongoing enhancement of export control processes and compliance frameworks.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with export control colleagues across the UK, Netherlands, Germany and the US. Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to achieve compliance objectives. Support the consistent application of export control requirements across international projects and supply chains.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
- Education & Experience: Degree educated, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
- Industry Expertise: At least 3 years' experience in an export control, trade compliance, or related regulatory role.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK export control regulations and their application within a commercial environment.
- Compliance & Governance: Knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance processes and regulatory controls.
- Licence Management: Experience working with export licences and their associated terms, conditions and obligations.
- Sector Experience: Experience within nuclear, defence, dual use or other highly regulated sectors would be advantageous.
- Training Capability: Previous experience delivering training or awareness sessions is desirable.
- Global Perspective: Experience working within a multinational organisation is beneficial.
- Organisation & Delivery: Able to work independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to investigate, interpret and resolve technical or complex compliance matters.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Confident engaging with senior leaders, technical and non-technical colleagues, suppliers and regulatory bodies.
