About The Role
This role is a Process Engineering Industrial Placement with Urenco, as part of an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. This Programme is designed to give you the opportunity to gain real, hands‑on experience, bridging the gap between university learning and real-world engineering by working alongside our engineering teams in an operational environment.
Duration: 13 months
Remuneration: £16.50 per hour
Location: The role is based at our Capenhurst site near Chester. We offer free parking and there is a train station a few metres away from site with frequent trains to Chester, the Wirral and Liverpool.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out process engineering calculations and studies, working proficiently with process engineering software and modelling tools.
- Providing technical troubleshooting support for plant operation.
- Designing new equipment and progressing plant improvements to equipment and software.
- Increasing productivity and efficiency of the plant whilst maintaining operational safety.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Completed 2 or 3 years of a degree in Chemical Engineering.
- No experience is required, but relevant experience will be considered beneficial.
- An interest in large scale chemical processes.
Selection Process
Our Engineering Placement Programme follows a structured, fair selection process designed to assess both technical potential and professional behaviours. Assessment Stages
Successful applications will complete a combination of online assessments and interviews, (preferably in person) in April and early May. All interviews will be arranged to avoid clashes with university examinations and other key coursework deadlines.
Offers and Start Dates
Offers will be confirmed in May 2026, with successful placement students joining us in July 2026 (On condition of successfully obtaining required level of security clearance).
