Role Summary: The main objective of this role is to assist with the operations of the store and support the store manager in achieving strategic short and long-term goals. The role involves taking store accountability for sales, service, profitability, and loss prevention. The goal is to foster a store community that encourages creativity and inspires the Urban Outfitters customer. It also includes providing feedback and guidance to promote employee development and building community relationships that reflect Urban culture, all while upholding the "Peers Teaching Peers" philosophy.
What You’ll Be Doing
- People: Oversee a large team, recruit, train, and develop managers to enhance daily business productivity, assist in developing Department Managers for future succession planning, manage performance development activities such as appraisals, development plans, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions, uphold company standards and serve as a positive role model.
- Leadership & Communication: Ensure Department Managers conduct effective daily and departmental meetings, lead by example to inspire the store team and share a clear vision, assist in rolling out new training and operational initiatives, maintain excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Managing the Environment: Coach management to oversee customer service levels and set daily goals to create a positive store environment, maintain a strong floor presence by training and coaching on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management, achieve mystery shop results aligned with company standards by guiding the team.
- Operations: Conduct walkthroughs in the absence of the Store Manager with feedback and goals, ensure operational procedures are performed accurately and timely according to policies, meet stock loss targets through training and oversight of loss prevention practices, participate in shipment processing to ensure merchandise is stocked promptly, plan, organize, and execute projects effectively, uphold Health & Safety procedures to protect employees and customers.
- Merchandising & Display: Coordinate communication between management and creative teams for merchandising projects, coach team members on interpreting fashion trends and generating creative solutions, ensure store floor sets are organized, scheduled, and executed on time.
- Commercial Awareness: Assist in maximizing sales through analytical and creative merchandise management, understand store profitability and use reports to react to trends and drive business, stay updated on current trends and customer profiles, manage stock levels considering store environment and market trends, demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to meet and exceed targets.
