Role Summary: To set the highest standard possible for display and visual excellence. Create an environment that is creative, dynamic and entertaining for our customers. Work alongside the Visual Merchandising Manager to achieve creative yet commercial solutions to display product. Manage a seasonal budget and ensure displays are cost effective.
What You'll Be Doing
- Display And Merchandising: Interpret Company direction and updates to ensure displays create an artistic, visionary and unique environment that has a positive impact on sales. Utilise seasonal books to interpret the inspiration of the floor set by using knowledge of the customer and store location while infusing prototype artistic and cultural interests. Ensure excellent craftsmanship throughout all windows and in-store displays. Actively seek outside inspiration and apply personal talent to develop and contribute unique perspectives to the overall display concept.
- People: Promote the Urban philosophy of âpeers teaching peersâ by sharing skills and achievements as well as knowledge of contemporary art, music and culture. Mentor retail teams on display through training on visual expectations, operational standards, and materials/tool management. Identify and develop team members to assist in display projects and seasonal set-ups by working with VMM and store management. Celebrate accomplishments of both individuals and shared goals, giving credit when due.
- Leadership And Communication: Attend daily meetings and share inspiration, new ideas and pertinent information from Head Office with the store team. Attend store Monday walkthroughs to gain insight into store performance and sales. Model the way in daily interactions by consistently displaying integrity, fairness, professionalism, and a genuine interest in employee development. Communicate new inspiration to the Head Office through good idea sheets and photo layouts. Consistently collaborate with the Visual Merchandising Manager and Store Manager which results in innovative and timely project execution.
- Managing The Environment: Efficiently utilise all display materials, including adaptations from recycled displays. Keep work areas organised and clean, with an emphasis on customer and employee safety. Ensure safety standards are upheld in the store in terms of displays and materials/tool management. Maintain an organised display room, signage storage area and fixture room.
- Operations: Support sales generation by creating an environment that highlights the appearance of the product and reflects the customerâs lifestyle and interests. Ensure display budgets are met and complete expense-reporting requirements accurately and on time. Work in collaboration with Visual Merchandising Manager to support the store in achieving the stock loss goal. Ensure all merchandise used for display is maintained, properly handled and accounted for at all times. Prioritise and plan projects to ensure that the customer experience is not inhibited.
What You'll Need
- Candidates must have a strong artistic background including a fine arts, design or architectural background. The use of power tools is an advantage. A completed professional portfolio should be submitted if applicable.
- Display Artist candidates must also possess: Ability to develop creative ideas into working solutions. Talent and interest in the creation of artwork, painting, paper hanging and carpentry skills. Possess excellent construction craftsmanship skills along with experience of creating 3D work. Ability to communicate effectively and possess strong organisational skills.
