This position is located at 5-7 Corporation St, Birmingham, B24LP United Kingdom.

The main objective of this role is to support the store management team in achieving a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development and the VIBE philosophy. To uphold the Urban Outfitters “Peers Training Peers” philosophy.

In partnership with the display coordinator and department managers to deliver seasonal layouts and display schemes that set the highest possible standard for creative excellence. Partner with peers to support in the communication and execution of seasonal layouts and display schemes across the district.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • People: Ability to recruit, motivate, develop and lead a team. Manage aspects of performance development within the department team (Performance Appraisals, Individual Development Plans, Coaching and Counseling and Disciplinary actions). Recognise and develop talented individuals for advancement and growth within the organisation. Uphold Company standards and act as a positive role model to others.
  • Leadership & Communication: Model the way by inspiring, motivating and encouraging teamwork. Conduct productive daily meetings to ensure that goals are met. Effectively delegate projects while at the same time allowing others the creativity to succeed by making their own decisions. Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Managing the Environment: Oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectations to create a positive store environment. Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching the store team on customer service, standards, product placement and time management. Achieve Company-average mystery shop results by upholding the Company’s customer service standard.
  • Operations: Perform all store-level operational procedures accurately and in a timely fashion, in accordance with all Company policies and procedures. Achieve the store stock loss goals by overseeing adherence to loss prevention practices. Assist in upholding Company Health & Security regulations at all times in order to protect employees and customers against accidents and incidents. Facilitate an efficient shipment processing system in which merchandise is placed promptly in order to maximise sales.
  • Merchandising & Display: Manage aspects of the assigned department in collaboration with the Department Manager (if applicable) or Visual Merchandising Manager with regard to: training, shipment placement, markdowns, transfers, merchandising and store standards. Understand and interpret current fashion trends in local markets in order to generate creative solutions. Take an active role in ensuring floor sets for the department are well organised and scheduled appropriately. Consistently lead and collaborate with the store manager and display coordinator and other creative coordinators resulting in innovative and timely project execution. Proactively manage, having shared responsibility with the display coordinator, the delivery of seasonal display concepts through effective time management and planning, detailed mapping, clean execution and timely completion. Communicate company merchandising concepts, initiatives and trends to the store teams through meetings, weekly walkthroughs and inspiration boards. Coach team members on merchandise placement, merchandising standards, execution of promotion and markdown placement and business analysis.
  • Commercial Awareness: Maximise departmental sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sales. Utilise Company reports to react to trends and drive business. Stay abreast of current trends and have a sound knowledge of customer profile by keeping up to date with external influences i.e. media and local community. Manage stock levels appropriately (taking into consideration the store environment) through the understanding of relevant reports and market trends. Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to achieve and exceed store targets.
