Role Summary
Weβre looking for a Junior Designer to join our Womenswear Design team at Urban Outfitters. You will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of our Dresses range for the UK & EU market.
What You\’ll Be Doing
- Assisting in the design of the dresses range, covering both jersey & woven product
- Researching and identifying latest key trends to inspire and develop new ranges, and to compliment and drive forward existing product lines
- Sourcing new fabrics, prints and trims in-line with trend at the start and throughout the season
- Working closely with buying and merchandising teams to source, present and select commercial ranges
- Helping to develop an innovative and commercial range of fashion products to meet business requirements across the UK and Europe for stores and online, designing products with an awareness of price architecture, margins and selling prices
- Understanding the brands image, broad knowledge of trends β assisting on trend mailers, contributing to overriding seasonal concepts, colour and print boards
- Developing concepts to hand/CAD sketches to create CAD technical packs including measurement specifications and clear fabric and trim references
- Demonstrating a passion for the product and knowledge of how trends evolve using natural creative flair
- Trend research and analysis
- Inspire up, down & across peers. Inspire through imagery & creative vision
- Assist Seniors on key item presentation decks
- Working on capsule projects
- Keeping ahead of trade, showing a strong understanding of key drivers and best sellers
What You\’ll Need
- The understanding of Urban as a trend maker and leader.
- Portfolio should be very directional and demonstrate an ability to think outside the box.
- Strong understanding of knitwear garment construction to develop samples and ranges effectively
- Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to present your ideas well, requiring a confident, can do attitude to your work.
- Strong CAD β Illustrator/Photoshop skills. capable of producing tech packs and specifications that are easy for factories to understand and specs for accurate first-time samples.
- Strong knowledge of Adobe, primarily indesign, photoshop and illustrator.
- Capable researcher with the ability to find new and exciting imagery that fits the brand.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to identify new opportunities with exceptional communication and presentation skills at all levels.
- Ideally had some exposure in working with a global supply base.
- An enthusiastic person who has excellent self-initiative but is also a strong team player.
