Role Summary

The main objective of this role is to oversee the operations of the store, be strategic in short‑ and long‑term planning, and assume total store accountability for sales, service, profitability, and loss prevention. The Store Manager will create a community that fosters creativity and inspires Urban Outfitters customers, provide guidance to achieve succession and employee development, build community relationships reflecting Urban culture, and uphold the “Peers Teaching Peers” philosophy.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Strategically recruit, train and develop managers to maximize day‑to‑day performance.
  • Develop Assistant Store Managers and high-level Department Managers for future growth.
  • Manage all aspects of people development, including performance appraisals, development plans, coaching, counselling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Uphold company standards and act as a strong leader to the team.
  • Empower management to conduct productive daily and department meetings with comprehensive agendas.
  • Model the way and inspire a shared vision for the store team.
  • Roll out new training and operational initiatives.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Coach managers to oversee customer service, set daily goals, and create a positive store environment.
  • Exhibit excellent floor presence by training the team on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management.
  • Guide the team to achieve company‑average mystery shop results.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with the Visual Merchandising Manager and Department Managers, providing constructive feedback and attainable goals.
  • Lead the team to perform all store‑level operational procedures accurately and timely, in accordance with company policies.
  • Achieve stock‑loss goals by training staff in loss‑prevention awareness and adherence.
  • Develop and implement a functional shipment processing system to ensure merchandise is promptly placed and floors are fully stocked.
  • Plan, organise, and execute projects by priority.
  • Assume full accountability for Health & Safety, upholding all procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising Manager and Display Artist to enhance the store environment.
  • Interpret local fashion trends to generate creative solutions.
  • Ensure floor sets are organised, scheduled, cleaned, and completed on time.
  • Lead the team to maximise sales through analytical and creative merchandise management.
  • Utilise company reports to react to trends and drive business.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and maintain knowledge of the customer profile.
  • Manage stock levels appropriately using relevant reports and market trends.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to achieve and exceed store targets.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in a senior management role in a fast‑paced, high‑volume fashion retail environment.
  • Upholding excellent VIBE and a service‑oriented culture.
  • Ability to positively impact sales, payroll, and stock‑loss statistics.
  • Proven record of developing talent at the Department Manager level.
  • Problem‑solving skills with the ability to implement creative solutions.
  • Understanding and appreciation of Urban Outfitters culture and local market appeal.
