Role Summary

As the Head of Performance Marketing, you are the strategic architect of Urban Outfitters’ digital growth across UK and European online channels. Reporting to the Ecommerce Director, you will champion performance marketing within the business, serving as a brand ambassador who balances commercial decision‑making with creative flair. You will lead a high‑performing team and manage external agency partners to diversify the marketing mix, maximize ROI, and foster a vibrant "test and learn" culture that keeps UO at the forefront of the digitally native landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end strategic direction for customer acquisition and retention, identifying new opportunities to diversify the marketing mix and drive sustainable digital sales growth.
  • Set and define budgets with senior stakeholders, meticulously managing channel optimisation to ensure effective customer cost management and maximum LTV.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop the performance marketing team, ensuring they are accountable for their numbers while leading by example through collaboration and respect.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships, specifically aligning with the CRM team and on‑site production teams to optimise acquisition funnels and ensure a seamless, personalised customer journey.
  • Instil a rigorous "test and learn" environment, relying heavily on statistical analysis and performance data to back up all strategic decision‑making and roadmap inputs.
  • Oversee multiple external agency partners across various EU markets and channels, ensuring they meet KPIs and align with UO’s overarching brand strategy.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable results through advanced audience targeting, segmentation strategies, and an in‑depth understanding of platforms like Google, Meta, and TikTok.
  • Commercial acumen: data‑obsessed, capable of blending marketing metrics with site funnel data to make fast‑paced, high‑impact decisions.
  • Leadership & influence: ability to act as a "digital evangelist," raising the profile of performance marketing across the business and influencing senior management through evidence‑based communication.
  • Strategic planning: proficiency in developing long‑term digital plans and a proactive approach to adopting emerging technologies and industry trends, such as AI/AEO.
  • Analytical mastery: exceptional analytical and project‑management skills, with the ability to navigate complex reporting systems (e.g., MicroStrategy, Qlik, or Looker) to pull and summarise key performance insights.
