Provide specialized and individualized instruction for students with significant emotional and behavioral needs and learning challenges in a clinical residential school setting. Develop and monitor student Individual Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with Department of Education regulations. Collaborate with the management team to ensure safety, stability and wellbeing of residents placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families. Full-time, 185 day position. Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Teaching or Education
- RI Certification in Special Education
- 3–5 years teaching experience preferred
- Experience with children with behavioral or psychiatric challenges
- Proficient with medical record, word‑processing, and database software
- Spanish speaking preferred; compensation added
- Excellent multitasking and communication skills required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Bilingual/ASL skills receive a 6% increase; multilingual skills receive an 8% increase
- Master’s degree → additional $3,000
Physical Requirements
- Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to travel to and from community locations and office site, including use of walkways, stairs, and elevators
- Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs
- Provide emergency coverage as needed
