FSRI is always looking for candidates that want to make a positive impact on the community! The position is to curate, instruct, and manage digital and print resources, acting as both teacher and librarian to support 21st-century literacy.

Key duties include:

  • Teaching information literacy
  • Managing media center resources
  • Instructing on digital tools
  • Collaborating with staff to integrate technology into the curriculum

Responsibilities also involve teaching students with significant emotional/behavioral needs in a clinical residential school setting and developing and monitoring student Individual Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with Department of Education regulations. The role requires working full-time, year-round, and coordinating with the management team to ensure safety, stability, and professional guidance for students placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching or Education
  • RI certification as Teacher of regular or special education
  • Knowledge base around subject matter such as Media, Art, Physical Education, Science, Math, English, History
  • Experience with children having behavioral or psychiatric challenges
  • Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs
  • Spanish speaking preferred and compensated
  • Excellent multitasking and communication skills are a must
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration, and auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Travel to and from community locations and office site, possibly using walkways, stairs, and/or elevators
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Provide emergency coverage; ratio to programs as needed
  • Ability to be trained and implement de-escalation techniques using Handle with Care when necessary
